Yvette Emmich is the new Swiss cantonal auditor
The district of Switzerland has a new auditor.
Yvette Emmich was sworn in by Judge Greg Coy on Monday morning. She replaces Carolyn Green, who previously resigned.
Emmich was elected by a faction of the Republican District Committee on October 6th, Green’s last day on Friday, October 29th.
She comes to the office with a strong background in business and finance.
“I graduated from Switzerland County in 1983,” said Emmich. “After high school, I went to college at Sullivan University; and from then on I have worked in small family businesses, managing their offices and accounting duties. From there, I worked at a medical facility in Madison for Dr. Lisles Eye Care Group. “
Emmich said she found out that the auditor’s position would become vacant around the last week of September.
Emmich lives with partner Tommy Wingham on State Road 56 near Vevay. She has a daughter, Renee, who lives near Hanover, and two grandchildren: Nicholas, 17 years old, and Katherine, 6 years old.
“I’m very excited,” she said of her first day. “I came to the office for a moment before Carolyn left; and today I just jumped in. I swim. I’m still stepping on the water – I haven’t gone down yet. One day at a time. “
Emmich said that you can’t really prepare to take on responsibility as a district auditor until you’re actually in office.
“You just have to ask a lot of questions,” she laughs.
And Emmich is also grateful for the remaining alternate team: Nancy Craig, Connie Christman, and Carolyn Miller.
“I can say that we have a good team here,” she said. “Everyone but me knows what they’re doing. You will really get sick of it when I ask ‘How do you do this?’ “
With the federal election on November 8, 2022, Emmich will end the Greens’ term of office, which will end in 2022.
