The bracelet authorizes the consumption of food and drinks as well as the purchase of goods. Guests who spend more than 15 minutes at a stand must also register. This can be done in advance at home, directly at the check-in areas or by simply scanning a QR code.
“We definitely want to hold the Salzburg Christmas Market this year. We assume that we can react quickly to almost all changes in the legal requirements, ”explains the Salzburg Christmas market Wolfgang Haider. According to the rules, it is also fixed that passers-by die strolling through the Christkindlmarkt, do not have to show a 2-G certificate.
Christkindlmarkt turns into New Year’s Eve market
The Christmas market ends on December 27th. This year, the Christmas market will be transformed into a New Year’s Eve market for the first time from Stefanitag. “We are very happy about the extension and would like to offer the people of Salzburg a good program for the turn of the year,” says Haider.
On December 31 An all-day New Year’s Eve program with live music and dancing is planned for the New Year at Kapitelplatz. Broadcasts of New Year’s Eve fireworks from metropolises around the world are planned on a big screen. A big fireworks display is also to take place in the city of Salzburg. Construction and entry sequence of the Christmas market huts precisely planned. The entry of the vehicles and trailers takes place in a precise order via Hofstallgasse and Rudolfskai. “The construction of the sales stands is custom-made. It is therefore very important that all hut operators adhere to the precisely specified entry sequence. This is the only way to set up a system quickly and smoothly. After all, the entire vehicle convoy is around 1.5 kilometers long, ”says Haider.
5000 LED lamps for Christmas lights
Electricians and craftsmen lay and assemble 14 kilometers of electrical cables, four kilometers of fir garlands, three kilometers of fairy lights and two kilometers of steel cables, which are necessary to secure the starry sky typical of the Salzburg Christmas market. Around 5000 LED lamps provide romantic Christmas lighting. There are also 250 fir trees and lots of Christmas decorations. The Christmas tree for Residenzplatz comes from Seeham this year.
The Salzburg Christmas market at the cathedral and Residenzplatz is one of the last and most traditional Advent markets in the world. The origins of the former “Tandlmarkt” go back to 1491. Visitors from all over the world and, above all, the local audience appreciate the wide range of craftsmanship, decoration, cuisine and daily traditional events.
