Actors are only hired if they exclude the “rights” – O Jornal Económico
Daniela Melchior was catapulted to national and international success with her role in ‘Suicide Squad’.
But the Portuguese actress didn’t let herself be dragged by her sudden fame, revealing that she turned away from social media to stay focused on her work and her personal life.
“The ‘Suicide Squad’ changed everything. When the movie came out, I was very present on social media, surfing the wave, giving feedback. It’s good to be loved, and I know that in the future I may have a character who is not so loved”, began by revealing Daniela Melchior this Thursday, November 4th, in a panel at the Web Summit.
“But I have to be sure of my values. I had to focus on being okay. I turned off all notifications to stay focused on my mental health”, she recalled.
The actress revealed today on Web Summit that she suffered a nervous breakdown during the filming of the film where she plays a character from ‘Ratcatcher 2’, having been forced to seek medical attention and be medicated.
Despite this necessary detachment, the actress explained that she likes to interact with her fans on Twitter and that she likes to share her “passions and causes” on social media, not wanting to be just putting up images of the red carpets.
“I wasn’t prepared for success at all. To suddenly be put on a pedestal”, he said, saying that he resorted to meditation to have “good mental health” and achieve balance.
Daniela Melchior also revealed the demands of the industry in Portugal, considering that they do not make sense, as they often take into account the audience of social actors more than their quality.
“In Portugal, the industry is very small. We have to have numbers, to sell magazines. If I don’t update my Instagram, I don’t have enough numbers, so I don’t get the roles. I don’t understand why. I won the lottery when I did the ‘Suicide Squad’”, revealed the actress raised from people present at the Altice Arena, on the last day of the Web Summit.
The actress also praised the opportunities that little-known Portuguese actors are having on the ‘streaming’ platforms.
