Townsend will represent Sweden at The 2021 Spirit
TRINITY, Texas – Boise State golfers for men Hugo Townsend will represent Team Sweden at the Spirit International Amateur Golf Championship 2021 this week at Whispering Pines Golf Club.
This Spirit is a first-class amateur competition with the world’s best men’s and women’s amateurs who represent their respective countries in team and individual games. Eighty competitors from 20 countries compete for gold medals in the 54-hole stroke play competition. Each country is represented by two women and two men amateur golfers.
“I’m really proud of Hugo and happy that he’s going out to represent his country and Boise State,” he said. Dan Potter. “This is not the first time he’s on the big stage and it’s definitely not going to be the last. He’s deserved every bit of this opportunity and I can ‘t wait to see him go out and take it.”
“It’s always an honor to play and represent your country, especially in one of the best amateur team additions,” said Townsend. “I’m excited to play on Thursday and hopefully it will be good for us this week!”
Townsend is fresh after a fall season with Boise State where he finished among the top 25 of all five tournaments. Boden, Sweden, has also been among the top 25 in the PGATour U-ranking all season and is currently in 22nd place.
The championship will be held November 4-6 and will be available via livestream during competition on GolfChannel.com, the NBC Sports app and on TheSpiritGolf.com. GOLF Channel will present the highlight show at prime time, from 17.00-19.00 MT on December 9, followed by an extra presentation on December 11 from 14-16 MT.
