Because a managing director of a Salzburg logistics company sneaked a total of around 30,000 euros in Corona aid money for alleged short-time work in his company, he was sentenced on Wednesday at the Salzburg regional court.
A managing director of a logistics company was sentenced on Wednesday at a trial in Salzburg for stealing Covid-19 aid money to a prison sentence of nine months on probation in combination with a fine of 720 euros. The man is said to have pretended that 24 employees were on short-time work. According to the indictment, he wrongly collected a total of around 30,000 euros due to false information.
Serious fraud: Corona aid received
The defendant confessed on charges of serious fraud. The company employs staff for parcel deliveries. The managing director is said to have sneaked aid money between 233 and 1,900 euros per employee. However, in case of doubt he was acquitted of the accusation of false evidence. The judgment is not final, as the spokesman for the Salzburg Regional Court, Peter Egger, informed. The prosecutor made no statement. The offense is threatened with a freedom street for up to three years.
