The Republic of San Marino takes part in the World Leader Summit of COP26, the United Nations conference on climate change
The fruitful institutional mission of San Marino continues at COP26 in Glasgow, today on the second day of work.
In the late morning of today, the Captains Regent, Francesco Mussoni and Giacomo Simoncini, spoke at the COP26 World Leader Summit, delivering their speech, together with the Heads of State and Government of various countries participating in the Conference.
Among the topics dealt with in the speech, the Regency underlined San Marino’s desire to expand and intensify cooperation with other States, especially in the multilateral context, in order to favor in particular the financing and implementation of joint projects.
“We invite small states to join their efforts together to implement common initiatives that may differ beyond our reach. – pronounced the Regency during its speech – We cannot fail to issue an appeal, even to the International Organizations, to devise new systems that allow small states to offer a more solid and substantial contribution at the multilateral level. As the history of the United Nations teaches us, together we are all stronger. And San Marino wants to be active together with other nations, now more than ever. “
The Regency also underlined the active commitment of San Marino with regard to environmental issues, reporting to the international assembly the important strategies already implemented by the Republic such as the establishment in 2019 of the Table for Sustainable Development and the publication this year of the first United Nations Voluntary National Review, on the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda.
With its presence, the Republic is committed to sharing and facing the challenges of this important international meeting, also on the basis of the G20 resolutions that have just ended in Rome.
“San Marino aims to act on two fundamental lines. – Secretary of State Beccari told the press – The first aims to create the conditions for cooperation with other States, especially in the multilateral context, which can favor in particular the financing and implementation of joint projects. The second aims to transform the territory into an open-air “laboratory”, which can favor the creation of pilot projects and attract innovation. “
