In Salzburg, the 2.5 G rule at work applies from Monday
The country gives up regional measures. Because the number of infections is currently increasing in all districts, instead, Salzburg-wide tightening should bring the hoped-for effect.
The responsible authorities discussed for hours on Tuesday afternoon what measures to take to respond to the galloping coronavirus infection numbers. Over the All Saints weekend in 1966, the health authorities reported new infections with the virus. The seven-day incidence per 100,000 inhabitants rose to 602, the value is only higher in Upper Austria.
In spite of the increasing numbers, the exit restrictions in the Tennengau communities of St. Koloman, Annaberg-Lungötz and Adnet run on Thursday. “They are being replaced by stricter measures throughout the state,” said Governor Wilfried Haslauer (ÖVP). Because the number of infections is currently increasing in all districts. There is nothing like imposing exit restrictions in entire districts in Upper Austria because this is de facto “not controllable,” said Haslauer’s spokesman.
The number of hospital patients is increasing
From November 8th, the 2G will apply to night gastronomy and events with more than 500 participants, access is only allowed vaccinated or recovered – this coincides with the entry into force of level 2 in the plan of the Ministry of Health. Several countries announced the tightening last week.
At the same time, there is the 2.5 G obligation (vaccinated, recovered, PCR-tested) at the workplace as well as for events with 26 to 500 people present. This applies to weddings and cinemas as well as the hotel and catering industry, hall facilities, museums, body-hugging service providers as well as senior citizens’ homes and hospitals (with the exception of patients). One is convinced that this is more effective than the regional measures, said the governor’s spokesman. In view of the high number of infections, one is forced to take countermeasures. Should the number of infections and the associated hospitalizations not decline, drones will collapse the hospital system – to the effect that operations will be postponed. On Tuesday, the country reported 115 corona patients being treated in hospitals – on Friday there were 89.
No contact tracing in schools
In view of the many cases in contact tracing, the authorities are now reaching their limits. The State Medical Directorate informed the schools that “contact person tracking can no longer be carried out in a timely manner.” Only positive cases should be segregated. The medical director justifies this with the high frequency of tests, whereby it is much more likely among the schoolchildren to discover infections than in the rest of the population.
