Minister of Economy expels Portugal as a country to invest and do business – Technologies
Pedro Siza Vieira, Minister of Economy and Digital Transition, highlighted at the Web Summit that Portugal “did not stand still” with regard to the themes of climate transition and digital transition.
With regard to technology, the minister highlighted that “technology has proven to be one of the things that has kept our economy alive and that leaves promises for the future.” In this scenario, Portugal is a country where people come to invest.
The minister stressed at the conference that the country now wants to “accelerate” the climate transition, mentioning the closure of the Sines coal plant as one of the areas where Portugal is working on climate issues. Pedro Siza Vieira exposed Portugal as “a safe country” and a place “to invest and a country to do business and create companies”. The subject of vaccination was also not left out of the intervention, at a time when Portugal has one of the highest percentages of people vaccinated against a covid-19, which is why it is described by Siza Vieira as a “safe country” also from this point of view.
At the end of the speech, the Minister of Economy highlighted that he hopes not only that the participants “enjoy Lisbon” as a result of the event’s days, but that he leaves a homework assignment for those who come to the capital for a Web Summit: spread the word. The minister hopes that those who left the conference share that Portugal is a “country to live and invest in”.
