23rd goal for Linköping: Uchenna Kanu lives her dream in Sweden
She is the all-time collegiate goal scorer in the United States where she received many awards and even has a day dedicated to her as “Uchenna Kanu Day”.
After her university education in the USA, she signed her first professional contract for Seville and soon she signed with Linkoping’s of Sweden.
When she came to Sweden, she had to struggle to fit into the new environment and fortunately she had her Super Falcons teammates, Ebere Orji and Chinaza Uchendu in the team and that made it easier for her.
There in Sweden, Uche has found peace and satisfaction that comes from doing what you love. She has scored 23 goals in 45 matches for the Swedish club.
Her hat trick this weekend took the goal figure this season to 12. She is suitable for Swedish physical and technical football and has an eye for assists as well. She can play from the wings or behind a main striker and her versatility is an asset for which team she plays for.
Uche scored 10 goals for the Super Falcons when they lifted the WAFU Cup ahead of the 2019 World Cup in France. In the AWCON qualifier against Ghana in Lagos, she scored two goals when the Falcons won 2-0 and those goals were all the Falcons scored in two rounds of the meeting.
From a humble beginning, she is fast becoming a force to be reckoned with in Sweden and she is definitely living her dreams in Sweden.
