One dead and 763 infected by Covid-19 in the last 24 hours in Portugal – Society
The number of admissions is 335, with an increase of 17 people admitted to wards. The number of patients admitted to Intensive Care Units is 59, with 5 fewer people admitted.
There are 324 more people recovered from the disease compared to yesterday. The number of active cases increased to 31,890, 438 more than on Saturday.
The only death in the last 24 hours was registered in the Lisbon region, according to the data from the health authority, indicating that the victim is a woman over 80 years old.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020, 18,157 people have died in Portugal and 1,090,651 cases of infection have been registered.
The greatest number of deaths continues to be concentrated among the elderly over 80 years old (11,849), followed by the age group between 70 and 79 years old (3,886).
Of the total number of deaths registered to date, in Portugal 9,523 were men and 8,634 women.
In the last 24 hours, there were 438 more active cases of covid-19, for a total of 31,890, according to the DGS data, according to which 324 people were reported as recovered, bringing to 1,040,604 the total number of people recovered since the onset of the pandemic.
The number of contacts under surveillance by the health authorities increased, 133 more, standing at 22,372.
The new coronavirus has already infected in Portugal at least 585,216 women and 504,688 men. There are still 747 cases of unknown sex, which are known under investigation, as this information is not automatically entered, explains the DGS.
Among the new infections, there is an age group from 20 to 20 (over 118 cases), followed by 40 to 49 years (over 103), from 30 to 39 years (over 101), from 50 to 59 years (over 98) , from zero to nine years old (over 81), from 10 to 19 (over 78), from 60 to 69 years old (72), from 70 to 79 years old (over 59) and from eighty or more years old (over 49).
In the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, 300 new infections were reported, with 421,241 cases and 7,728 dead so far in this geographic area.
The Northern region registered 153 new infections by SARS-CoV-2, totaling 416,219 cases of infection and 5,598 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic crisis.
According to the data, over 169 cases were registered in the Central region, totaling 146,932 infections and 3,181 deaths.
In Alentejo, nine new cases of infection were reported, totaling 40,176 infections and 1,052 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
Today’s DGS bulletin still counts 66 new cases in the Algarve region, accumulating 44,012 infections by SARS-CoV-2 and 479 deaths.
The Autonomous Region of Madeira recorded 36 new cases, totaling 12,706 infections and 74 deaths due to the covid-19 disease since March 2020.
In the last 24 hours, and according to DGS, the Azores registered 30 new cases, which raises to 9,365 infections since the beginning of the pandemic and 45 deaths due to the disease.
The regional authorities of the Azores and Madeira publish their data daily, which may not coincide with the information published in the DGS bulletin.
