OTTAWA, Kan. – Ottawa University’s women’s volleyball team won its ninth conference game 3-0; 25-14, 25-17, 25-14; victory over Bethany College on Saturday afternoon at Wilson Field House.
How it happened
- Ottawa took a 7-2 lead in set one over Bethany on a Laigen Phelan service ace. Ottawa pushed their lead to 10-4 after Randi Johnson’s death. A guy by Ayona Tharps and two Swedish attacking errors gave Braves a lead of 20-10. Ottawa kept BC in check for the rest of the set and the Braves took the victory 25-14.
- The Braves opened set two with a 3-1 lead over Bethany. Ottawa continued to press. A Ryleigh Burdick death gave OU a 10-5 lead. Five straight points led to a Swedish timeout. Bethany could not recover from Ottawa’s quick start and the Braves took the victory 25-17.
- In set three, everything was Braves. Two straight deaths by Tharps gave OU a 13-7 lead. The Swedes never threatened the Ottawa leadership. Braves won a 25-14 victory.

- Ayona Tharps led the Braves by 14 kills. She finished the match with an attacking percentage of .444.
