New trial for Marc Machin. The man, victim of a miscarriage of justice and whose murder conviction was overturned in 2012, will be tried violates in front of the Assize Court of Paris from Monday 11 to Thursday 14 October 2021. Now aged 39, Marc Machin will appear for rape committed under the threat of a weapon, extortion with a weapon, fraud and home invasion.
Identified thanks to video surveillance and its DNA
Indicted and imprisoned since May 2018, Marc Machin is accused of raping a woman in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. Breaking into her home to rob it, he allegedly forced her to have sex at gunpoint before leaving with his credit card. He would have been identified thanks to the video surveillance and to his DNA, present on the skirt of the victim.
In 2004, Marc Machin was sentenced – wrongly – to 18 years of criminal imprisonment for the murder of Marie-Agnès Bedot, three years earlier on the bridge of Neuilly-sur-Seine (Hauts-de-Seine). It wasn’t until four years later that the real culprit arose. In 2008, a homeless man named David Sagno became a prisoner in the La Défense police station and confessed to the murder.
Marc Machin then leaves prison where he will have spent more than six years. He reached 663,320 euros in compensation that he regretted in a few years to end up living in the social hotel.
The man is not done with prison. In 2010, he was sentenced to three years in prison for three sexual assaults, including two on minors. In 2015, he was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment for willful violence against an ex-girlfriend. He was returned to prison in January 2016 for fulfilling his obligations related to some of these convictions.
