Corfu KTEL intercity bus burned completely – Passengers were not in danger

The bus was carrying 31 passengers and the bus driver. The fire broke out at the spot, when it stopped for a few minutes, in a parking lot, near Menidi.
As the president of the Intercity KTEL Corfu, Tassos Tsimpoulis, told APE-MPE, “all the passengers were lucky in their misfortune because the fire did not occur when the heavy car was in motion, we do not know what could happen there” he said. .
According to Mr. Tsimpoulis, the fire is said to have started from the engine of the bus, which within a few minutes burned completely.
“We do not know the exact causes of the fire and we will wait for the conclusion of the fire brigade. The fact is that the very high temperatures that prevail were an unfavorable factor for the rapid evolution of the fire.
A large fire brigade immediately rushed to the spot, while none of the passengers, who were quickly removed, were in danger.
The passengers and the driver of the bus boarded within a short time a bus of the intercity KTEL ‘Arta that we assisted for their transfer to the island, after the intervention of Mr. Tsimboulis.
