The football players of the Prague Sparta lost in the match of the 4th round of the European League on the field of Lyon 0: 3, after the draw Bröndby Copenhagen with Glasgow Rangers 1: 1, but remained in group A with four points still second. The French team decided on the fourth victory in the competition in the second half, when the Algerian striker Islam Slimaní won twice in the 61st and 63rd minutes. In the end, Karl Toko Ekambi also replaced the sixth goal in the competition.

Spartan coach Pavel Vrba could not count on the injured Hložek in the match, Dočkal was also missing in the basic. From the beginning, on the other hand, Krejčí Jr. played. The home team entered the duel without the best scorer of the competition, Ekambi, and the Brazilian midfielder Paquetá or the Italian defender Emerson remained on the bench.
For Sparta, the match did not start well and after seven minutes the injured Čelůstka had to resign, who was replaced by Vindheim. A few tens of seconds later, he got into a very good Shaqiri shooting position, but overshot. Sparta threatened after a direct kick in the 19th minute, but Lopese’s goalkeeper was not surprised by Krejčí Jr.’s header. After the subsequent counterattack, Slimaní also failed.
The Prague team played the opponent in the next part of the match and in the 22nd minute they looped towards the shot Haraslín, but his hard attempt flew over. A few minutes later, Lopes had to fire a shot at Pešek, and the catching-up Minčev did not prevail. Lyon threatened mainly from fast breaks and after one of them he got himself in front of Nita home Slimaní, but in a huge chance he aimed completely out.

At the end of the first half of the match, two unruly fans interrupted, who ran into the field in yellow and black overalls, and it took the organizers a few tens of seconds to catch them both.
Sparta continued its fighting performance in the second half, but Lyon gradually took over the pace of the game. Nita’s Aouara made it through the home team’s defense on the right hand side 57 minutes into the match. Slimaní ran for the Spartan defense, looped Nita and delivered the ball to the empty goal.
The leading goal calmed the home team and then prevailed for the second time. Slimaní jumped on the center of Caqueret from the right side and Nita stretched out in vain against his exact header. The Algerian striker scored his first goals this year in the EL.
Sparta could have returned to the game in 67 minutes, but Krejčí Jr. kicked in from the immediate vicinity. The 22-year-old midfielder was close to lowering five minutes before the end that Lopes pulled his head out.
In the end, Nita shone against Shaqiri’s chance and, on the other hand, Karabec didn’t succeed either. In the second minute of the third time, however, Lyon added a goal, Ekambi insured.
The next match of the European League will be played by Sparta footballers on November 25 at the Glasgow Rangers. He will end his work in the basic group A on December 9 at home against Bröndby.
