Flemish minister Lydia Peeters transfers Herentalsebaan and Kloosterstraat to the city of Antwerp | Antwerp

AntwerpFlemish Minister of Mobility and Public Works Lydia Peeters has decided to transfer two regional roads to the city of Antwerp, as they have a purely local function. These are the Kloosterstraat and the Herentalsebaan. “By transferring to the city, together with a fee, we ensure that the management of these roads can also be arranged more according to the local institutions”, Minister Peeters.

The regional road N116a Herentalsebaan has an arbitrary function and may be classified with the municipal roads. The city will receive an investment grant of 670,000 euros for bringing it into good condition.

The regional road N114, known as the Kloosterstraat in Ekeren, also has a historical function and will therefore also fall under the category of municipal roads. Here too, the city will receive an investment grant of EUR 437,310.99 for restoring the road to good condition.

Discussion

These are files that have been involved since 2014 and 2016. There has been discussion for some time about the modalities and compensation for the transfer of this regional road. An agreement was recently reached and the final decision on the transfers was made,” said Minister Peeters.
