8,200 entries were received for the Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon

According to the organizer Budapest Sportiroda (BSI), 8,200 athletes entered the event. 5,200 people indicated their participation in the individual half-marathon distance, almost 20 percent of them completing their first half-marathon. The MANNA ABC 10 km was chosen by 1,200 people, more than half of the participants in this number are women. The change numbers are extremely popular, with 1,500 starting on them.

720 settlements from Hungary are represented, and 1,135 foreign runners from 77 countries also entered. Most foreign participants come from Slovakia, Poland, Great Britain and Germany.

“The domestic enthusiasm for running and international running tourism are making a comeback,” said Árpád Kocsis, race director of Hungary’s largest half marathon.

“Again, many people are tackling the half-marathon distance for the first time, and ten percent of the runners are also collecting for charity or donating. After Covid, the additional music half-marathon will also return, as it entertains the runners and spectators with music every one and a half kilometers. On the day of the event, 13 – We expect 15,000 runners and fans along the route,” added Árpád Kocsis.

The start and finish area will be on the Pázmány Péter promenade, and the route will touch some of the sights of the capital.
