Prague, the prize of Europe, especially the banks grew

The Prague Stock Exchange recorded its second strong growth in a row and overall the third positive session in a row. The PX index strengthened today by 1.67%, and from the local lows from the beginning of the week, it has already risen by more than 3%. Today’s performance was one of the strongest in Europe, as the banking sector, which has a high presence in the domestic index, succeeded in particular. The media headlines are still announcing the taxation of extraordinary profits, but today the market looked as if there would be no taxation after all. The Ministry of Finance has already prepared a proposal for the government, which should, in the context of the results of negotiations at the European level regarding the situation in the energy sector, decide on the possible introduction and specific parameters. Available information so far suggests that the tax should not apply to profits for 2022, which is positive. Komerční banka did not maintain the movement at the level of CZK 600, yet the closing at CZK 598.50 with a profit of 4.45% is a very respectable result. Erste Group also recorded growth of 4.5%. For other issues, the movements were moderate and the final changes were in the low tenths of a percent. ČEZ strengthened to CZK 985 at the beginning of the day, but ended with a loss of 0.31% to CZK 966.50. According to Prime Minister Fiala, the government wants to present the final form of measures related to the energy crisis next week in the context of the final negotiations at the European level. Kofola slightly extended higher profits, ending at CZK 276 with a growth of 0.36%. The total volume of transactions on the market reached a decent 800 million CZK. Avast shares were no longer traded on the Prague Stock Exchange today, where the takeover by NortonLifeLock is being completed.
