Toulouse: a “chaotic return to school”, denounce the parents of pupils of the Molière nursery school

The parents of pupils of the Molière nursery school in Toulouse, in the Saint-Cyprien district, were affected, Thursday, September 8, to protest against unfilled teaching posts at the start of the school year.

“A chaotic return to school”, “children, parents and teaching staff abused”, it is in these terms that the parents of pupils of the Molière nursery school, in the Saint-Cyprien district, described the start of the school year. They were assigned, Thursday, September 8, in front of the establishment.

A student’s father describes a tense situation, the day before September 1, back to school day in this school which welcomes nearly 110 children from the small to the large section.

A “rush” director

“Two vacancies out of four at the start of the school year, a director appointed in a hurry, a tenured teacher also appointed, but who must give way to a contract worker, then no, then yes, a rectorate reluctant to exchange” .

A petition has been filed on the change.org website. “After a management position not provided on the day of the start of the school year, no management at CLAE (maternity leave not replaced), understaffing of specialized nursery school agents (atsem), and no teacher for class 5”, denounce the parents of students.

A teacher assigned at the last minute

They also ensure “that a teacher was finally assigned at the last minute in this class to ensure the start of the new school year, but she is not appointed to this position for the year and will probably have to give up her place to a contract worker” . The rectorate of Toulouse, which regularly hires contractual teachers, is forced to assign some of them to replacement positions.

“In principle, we oppose the replacement of a tenured teacher by a contract teacher, explains Aurélie, a mother of a student. We also wonder about the fact that the retirement of the former director was not anticipated by the academic inspection. We asked for an audience with the rectorate, but we got no response. We decided to hang banners on the school gate to make ourselves heard. We have nothing obvious against the contractual person who has been appointed and may be very competent but […] our children have the right to have truly trained teachers in front of them. “In the end, the parents would have won their case, said one of them at the end of the day.
