First division football team completed a week-long training camp.

For the fourth time in a row, 1. FC Köln completed their pre-season training in Aasen. The first division soccer team from the Rhineland will be in the Öschberghof Hotel for a week from Sunday in the training camp. The people of Cologne had also prepared for the Baar last year and then the team played a very good round. The Bundesliga club from the cathedral city is seventh and qualifies for the UEFA Conference League.

The man who significantly influenced the upswing in Cologne football is coach Steffen Baumgart. The coach extended his contract until 2024 at the beginning of the week and says: “I like working at 1. FC Köln. We had a very successful year and had a lot of fun, the project is not over yet.” Christian Keller, the managing director of 1. FC Köln, tries not to let expectations get too high. “Our focus is on the Bundesliga and the priority is to get the 40 points that mean staying up in the league,” says the Donaueschingen native.

Public training sessions with fans are also planned in Aasen. As a rule, training takes place in the mornings and late afternoons, and 1. FC Köln know the training times at short notice. The billy goats will play two friendlies during their training camp: on Friday, July 8, 6 p.m. in the Singing Hohentwiel Stadium against the Austrian first division promoted Austria Lustenau and the day after, on Saturday, July 9, 3 p.m. in the Salinenstadion in Bad Dürrheim against the Swiss First division teams Grasshoppers Club Zurich. It is also certain that there will be a Kölsch culture party in the spa town after the game in Bad Dürrheim from around 5.30 p.m. – with live music from Cologne and a DJ. Admission is free.
