Toulouse: a district blocked several hours after threats of armed attack

The Raid forces were deployed in a district of Toulouse, this Thursday, June 30, after several threatening calls likely to attack an army.

An intervention by the Raid teams blocked the entire Soupetard district in Toulouse for several hours, this Thursday, June 30. The police were alerted by telephone to the presence of an armed man and decided to open fire in several businesses. An attack that fortunately did not take place.

Accompanied by a canine brigade, the Raid men tried to locate the potential attacker all morning. According to information from France 3the McDonald’s restaurant and the bakery on avenue Jean Chaubet were particularly targeted by the threats.

Around 11 a.m., the national police issued a warning on Twitter, asking civilians to avoid the area. According France Bluea building and businesses were evacuated, the McDonald’s restaurant closed.

A couple were reportedly eventually arrested, with the man suspected of being behind the threatening calls. Around 3 p.m., law enforcement tweeted that the operation was over. An investigation was opened and sent to the Toulouse judicial police.
