MORVAN: Ten solar cell phone charging stations

MORVAN: Ten solar cell phone charging stations

Ten territories spread over three departments have been supported by the Morvan Regional Nature Park to equip themselves with rural furniture to recharge smartphones in particular.

10 solar mobile phone charging stations in the 100% Morvan ParkIn 2019, the Morvan Regional Nature Park and more specifically its “Energy” service was approached by a company to install a solar mobile phone charging station. Following these exchanges, it was decided to reflect on the creation of this type of furniture locally.

the project’s objectives

– Propose a new service by experimenting with a charging module for

mobile phone in the natural environment, produced locally and self-sufficient in energy (solar);

– Adapt to the new uses of tourists related to mobile phones (photos, social networks) requiring them to be recharged more frequently;

– Facilitate access to a source of energy outside on places, tourist sites in a natural environment.

An experimental approach in conjunction with the Artisans Bois Morvan association

A request was therefore made to the Artisans Bois Morvan (ABM) association. The craftsman Tobias Muthesius (Bois du Guidon in Chissey-en-Morvan) made a very interesting proposal which resulted in the installation of the first terminal at the Maison du Parc in July 2019 (100% financed by the Regional Council).

Local equipment with little impact on the environment

Furniture: first choice untreated planed Douglas fir

Anchoring to the ground: system to be screwed into the ground

Advantages: Very little impact on the ground and easily removable

A system for counting the number of connections has been put in place in order to assess its use.

2022: the deployment of 10 terminals in 3 Departments

On the strength of the first experiment, the Park decided to launch a call for applications from the communities of the Morvan supporting the project. It is therefore 9 municipalities and 1 community of municipalities that have provided a subsidy from the Regional Council up to 70% of the investment.

These 10 terminals were installed at the beginning of the year and are operational for the upcoming tourist season.

Where to find these terminals?

Sommant, Ménessaire, Corancy, Chissey-en-Morvan, Montsauche-les-Settons, Lake Settons and Lake Pannecière (Community of communes Morvan Summits and Great Lakes), Arnay-le-Duc, Lormes and Cussy-en-Morvan .
