Five European countries are calling for a reduction in road transport emissions reductions and the introduction of a transitional period to ban engine combustion.
Slovakia, together with Italy, Portugal, Bulgaria and Romania, is working to delay the ban on the sale of diesel and petrol passenger cars, which the European Union plans to introduce in 2035.
The proposal to reduce emissions from road transport for passenger cars and commercial vehicles envisages a 100% reduction in CO2 emissions for new vehicles, which makes it virtually impossible to sell cars with internal combustion engines in the EU.
