Slovakia wants to delay the ban on the sale of petrol and diesel cars in the EU

Five European countries are calling for a reduction in road transport emissions reductions and the introduction of a transitional period to ban engine combustion.

Slovakia, together with Italy, Portugal, Bulgaria and Romania, is working to delay the ban on the sale of diesel and petrol passenger cars, which the European Union plans to introduce in 2035.

The proposal to reduce emissions from road transport for passenger cars and commercial vehicles envisages a 100% reduction in CO2 emissions for new vehicles, which makes it virtually impossible to sell cars with internal combustion engines in the EU.

In the article you will learn:

  • what reduction of CO2 emissions for passenger cars and commercial vehicles is proposed by five countries,
  • which factors, according to government officials, should take into account EU climate policies,
  • why Brussels insists on a 100% reduction in emissions from 2035,
  • what does the German Minister of Finance think about the proposal and what is the position of the German government,
  • how car manufacturers, representatives of fuel manufacturers and distributors approach the design.
