Gerês National Park
Gerês National Park is full of outdoor activities to keep you entertained during your visit – hiking, horse riding, boating, camping and waking up to the noise of animals. Gerês is one of the most beautiful areas in the country, which shines in the autumn.
Douro Valley
The Douro is undoubtedly more beautiful this time of year. The terraces are covered with golden and reddish vines, which reflect in the calm waters of the river. This is the most emblematic wine region in Portugal. It can be created by taking a trip with the family, by boat, by train or by car, as all paths will be magnificent. If you have time, make a stop at the São Roque Park to visit the playground and the viewpoint overlooking the city over the Douro river.

In the middle of Serra da Estrela, the hell pit is a cascade of about 10 meters high located on the Leandres stream at an altitude of about 1100 meters. You can reach this natural treasure from Manteigas via the forest road from Leandres or the forest road from the trout nursery of Fonte Santa, where the green of the trees gives way to endless golds and reds. The sound of water, in a waterfall that falls to more than 10 meters and which, during the winter, due to the cold and the high altitude, even freezes, presents unique photographic moments.

It’s worth walking through the narrow streets of the village, looking for the most beautiful spot to take a souvenir photo. Going up the slope, a path from Palácio da Vila, the view is breathtaking. At the top, the Castelo dos Mouros and the Palácio da Pena mark the landscape.
Alamal Walkway and Belver Castle
Without Alto Alentejo, without the municipality of Gavião, there is an undiscovered treasure on the banks of the Tagus River. Its beauty is undeniable in all seasons of the year, but in autumn the touch is special. Between high granite hills you will find the Alamal’s walkway, next to Belver Bridge overlooking the castle of the same name. A path covered with golden and reddish vegetation on one side and surrounded by crystal clear water on the other. Leave your car at Alamal beach and go on foot!
