The mountain farmer and cattle breeder Sebastian Windhofer in Pfarrwerfen (Pongau) could embrace his ten-year-old darling again on Tuesday. Alex had been missing since last Saturday. At the weekend, the family asked the animal search team at the ORF regional studio in Salzburg for help. Homesick for Pfarrwerfen?
The odyssey of the trusting lasted three days and three nights. It started like this: over the weekend he was visiting farmer Windhofer’s daughter. She lives in Eugendorf (Flachgau). From there, Alex was supposed to be taken back to Pfarrwerfen in the car on Sunday evening. For the experienced drover it was evidently much too slow. Maybe homesick too? Boredom? The impatience that is common among these often hard-working canine people? So he set off in Eugendorf on Saturday to set off for Pongau himself.
On the way he fielded
On the way, neighbors and passers-by were seen several times. His route led through Hallwang, the city of Salzburg, Elsbethen, Puch and Oberalm, before he could be “arrested” in front of the supermarket in Hallein. Passers-by petted and fed the tramp before the chip was read with the help of a veterinarian.
