Between CCTV and technology, they failed. This Wednesday, February 1, 2023, two young men managed to steal the wallet of a 20 year old woman. The video protection of the town hall of Toulouse didn’t let them get away with it. A few hours later, they are found with many goods which did not belong to them.

Found a few hours later

It is video protection that makes it possible to notice the flight, not far from the station of metro Marengo-SNCF around 9 p.m. Two young men are then stealing the wallet of a young woman. The municipal police quickly contact the National Police and notifies the departmental service for securing public transport. The description of the two thieves is then disseminated within the police services. Once there, the two suspects have already left.

But the story does not end there. The young men, both known to the police and Tisséo, are seen at the level of the Metro Jean-Jaures a few hours later. The police will then arrest them for the wallet theft. But during the check, it turns out that the two defendants are in possession of telephones.

An SMS betrays them

Bad luck for the two thieves, just as they are being checked, the owner of one of these phones sends a message: “Please give me back my phone”. All in front of the police. Law enforcement then has “proof” that these phones are stolen.

Known to the police, the young men are both 16 years old according to a police source contacted by The Independent Opinion. They were remanded in custody. Two victims were thus able to be detected, the first aged 20, and the second aged 25. The two young women filed a complaint. This Thursday, February 2, the two thieves were still in custody.
