The Prague Zoo is rejoicing over the birth of the first nutcracker in Europe
In the Prague zoo, a young short-tailed nuthatch was born on Thursday morning. It is the first shell fish born in Europe, said zoo director Miroslav Bobek.
“Before four in the morning today, the female Short-tailed Run Hou Tang Nutcracker gave birth to a cub. It is the first nutmeg born in Europe. It weighs 135 grams,” announced Miroslav Bobek. However, according to him, it should be added that the following days may be critical.
Congratulations flooded the Internet
Social networks of the zoo congratulations and wishes from friends almost flooded in. “May everything be in order and the little one grows into even greater beauty,” writes one of the first commenters. “Congratulations on a huge success, I hope everything goes better than with little Amalee, we feel so sorry for her!” another recalled the recent death of the youngest Prague elephant.
Shellfish are an insectivorous order of mammals with a body covered with large hornlike scales. “A newborn cub most of all resembles a spruce cone,” explained Director Bobek. Their original homeland is Africa and Asia. Their diet consists mainly of ants and termites – only toothless jaws are available. Their evolutionary origin is unclear, but in terms of age, they may have walked our planet for 65 million years.
