A city police officer documented the situation and summoned an employee of the Czech Environmental Inspection. They assessed on the spot that animal cruelty was taking place. The 32-year-old foreigner, who was called by a police officer on Thursday, January 26, to present a permit to announce a public production, claimed that he did not know about such an obligation.
The inspector who was called subsequently confirmed that the men were using protected barn owls for production, which is considered animal cruelty. The owls were taken from the men. The administrative body will deal with the misdemeanor.

Police officers from the center of the metropolis have been dealing with the issue of dealing with protected animals for several years.
“In most cases, these are foreigners, sometimes even organized groups, who have no inhibitions. Quite a lot of money “spins” around production with animals. Animal owners often earn tens of thousands of crowns in one day. At the same time, a burnt owl can be purchased for a few hundred crowns. Thanks to the excellent cooperation with the Environmental Inspectorate, at least the protected animals are being rescued,” said Irena Seifertová, spokeswoman for the city police.
