Eiffage and NGE win a major contract for the construction of metro line C
Eiffage and NGE, as part of a consortium, won the contract awarded by the Tisséo company for the civil engineering works for tunnels, engineering stations and structures for the future line C of the Toulouse metro. The contract amounts to nearly 590 million euros.
The Tisséo company has awarded a consortium made up of Eiffage and NGE the contract for the civil engineering works for the future line C of the Toulouse metro. The total amount of contract amounts to nearly 590 million euroswith 65% of the share allocated to Eiffage and 35% to NGE.
The consortium will be responsible for studies and construction of an 8,416 km tunnel, 6 stations5 ancillary structures and a connecting structure.
“The project incorporates many advanced techniques, including in particular the implementation of two new generation tunnel boring machines and the use of fibre-reinforced concrete segments that consume less steel for 95% of the site, the manufacture of which will be carried out by the consortium itself thanks to a new factory in the Toulouse region. Carasol®, the soil characterization technique developed by Eiffage, will be implemented. It allows an analysis in 2 hours of the excavated materials against 3 to 5 days for traditional methods, thus limiting temporary storage and therefore truck rotations“says the two companies in a press release.
To minimize the impact of the work on local residents, the consortium ensures that it will put in place measures to reduce noise pollution and travel. From an environmental point of view, the group recovery of nearly 90% of the rubble and is committed to reducing its carbon footprint through the use of renewable energy and eco-designed facilities.
The project, which will start in the spring of 2023 after a 3-month preparatory phase, will mobilize up to 1,000 employees and provides for 195,000 hours of professional integration, as well as the creation of 150 to 200 jobs. The infrastructure will be handed over before the fitting out and final equipment from the end of 2025, to commissioning in 2028 of line C.
