Energy Evaluation Points (PAE)
Municipal technicians have avoided 107,960 power, water and gas cuts
The Energy Evaluation Points (PAE) are a City Council service to help people exercise their energy rights. They offer information and care, and intervene when necessary so that companies do not deny access to basic supplies to vulnerable people. They also provide information on how to read the electricity or gas bill, explain what the sewage tax is and who can be exempt from paying it, and how to achieve greater energy savings at home. In 2022, three out of four queries were related to the supply of electricity, and they asked for advice to lower the cost of the bill, whether it was optimizing consumption or requesting the social bonus. Since its creation in 2017, the PAEs have prevented 107,960 electricity, water and gas supply cuts at city homes. The PAEs have been recognized by the Observatory on Energy Poverty of the European Commission as one of the 24 best initiatives to fight against this serious problem.

How to save energy and live more sustainably
Tips to reduce expenses In the home
♻ Do not turn on artificial lights if there is enough natural lighting; Check that no lights remain on.
♻ Use the sun and the wind to dry clothes; The dryer consumes a lot of energy.
♻ The iron is a device that consumes a lot, it is important that it is not turned on for longer than necessary.
♻ Replacing conventional lighting with LED allows saving up to 70% of electricity consumption for lighting.
♻ Eliminate standby consumption at night and when no one is home will help save 3% energy.
Recommendations to minimize consumption in the kitchen
♻ In the washing machine or dishwasher, use the eco or cold program, and fill the capacity.
♻ The ideal temperature in the fridge is 5eitherC and that of the freezer, of 18either C. Reducing these values means more spending.
♻ Separate the refrigerator a minimum of 5 cm from the wall, and keep the back clean to facilitate ventilation. Check that the sealing joints.
♻ Think about what to drink before opening the fridge. The more outside air enters, the more often the engine that generates the cold starts and consumes more.
♻ Remove any ice buildup from the freezer. If half a finger of ice forms, twice the energy is consumed.
♻ Use the oven to cook, not to defrost or heat food. Take advantage of the residual heat accumulated in the oven by turning it off ten minutes beforehand.
♻ Acquire highly efficient appliances: save up to 40% of electricity consumption.
♻ Prioritize the purchase of a gas or induction cooker.

how to save in air conditioning
♻ Ventilate the house once a day and always with the air conditioning systems turned off.
♻ Check the enclosures (doors and windows) to avoid air infiltrations.
♻ Install weather stripping on doors and windows to reduce the ingress of unheated outdoor air.
♻ Put blinds and awnings to isolate the home from direct sun and heat.
♻ Close the windows when the air conditioning is on.
♻ The double glazed windows and air chamber allow greater comfort with a lower energy cost.
♻ Before turning on or increasing the temperature of the air conditioner, see if you can fight the cold with a sweater.
♻ Do not cover the radiators to make the most of the heat they emit.
♻ If you have an air conditioner, set 21 as the usual temperature eitherC in winter and 26 eitherC in summer.
