Update, 12:21 p.m. – the route can be used again as a single track
The railway line between Traunstein and Teisendorf has been single-track again since 11 a.m., as the Bayerische Regiobahn (BRB) announced on its website. By the evening hours, dying will probably not change either. Due to the fact that the route can only be used on one track, there will still be delays in train traffic.
Update, 10:21 a.m. – route closed until 12 p.m
According to information from the BRB, the blocking of the railway line between Teisendorf and Freilassing lasts until at least 12 noon. From 10.30 a.m. a shuttle bus will be in service from Traunstein to Teisendorf.
Update, 8:57 a.m. – Photos from the site
At around 5:50 a.m. on Wednesday, a tree fell on a passenger train heading towards Munich. The overhead line of the railway line was damaged. The 15 passengers were not injured and had to wait on the train until they were picked up by a replacement train.
Meanwhile, firefighters began cutting up the tree and removing it from the train. Since there was no more electricity on the overhead line, railway employees organized a diesel locomotive to tow the electric railcar. As long as the operation is still running, the route between Teisendorf and Traunstein will be completely closed in both directions.

Later, the trains of both directions can share a track and run in alternating traffic. This will cause delays in rail traffic. A rail replacement service has been set up. The Surberg and Traunstein fire brigades, the BRK, the police and several employees of the railway are in action.
Update, 8.01 a.m. – the railway line is expected to be closed for a longer period of time
According to initial information from on site, the tree fell on the regional train at around 5.50 a.m. About 15 people were said to be on the train at the time of the accident. The passengers had to be picked up by a replacement train and were transported to Traunstein station.
The tree that fell on the regional train also apparently damaged a power line. The fire brigades are in the process of removing the tree from the track area.
The damaged train has to be towed by a diesel locomotive. It will probably take a few hours to restore the power supply on the route section and to salvage the damaged train.
The BRB goes out until at least 11 a.m. at the moment of a blockage.
