The prank at Žižkov ends, the giant is not enough. A Spartan comes to Kotal
He leads Group B of the Third Football League by nine points. He is going hard for promotion to the playoffs and a return to the second highest competition. Nevertheless, unexpected news comes from Žižkov. Coach Michal Šmarda was dismissed from the team. In his place, Michal Horňák, the coach of Sparta B, comes to Viktoria in the fall.
The well-matched duo from Eastern Bohemia is falling apart. Michal Šmarda will no longer cooperate with Václav Kotal, with whom he worked, for example, in Hradec Králové or even in Sparta.
The last time they “revived” Žižkov together, who fell outside of professional football. In the summer, their arrival in a peculiar Prague district was surprising, as it is in the current case. Kotal, who looked at the whole as a kind of supervisor, is staying. “It’s the decision of the club’s management,” said one of the daily Sport experts.
The bosses of Viktoria left the team with conditions like in the second league after the fall, so it is the clear favorite for promotion. In the fall, he confirmed his position with points, leading the group B table by nine. Nevertheless, the fifty-two-year-old Horňák, who met Šmarda of the same age during a player engagement at Letná, arrives.
“We are not yet clear on how we will divide the competences. Míša is in Moravia, we will meet on Friday,” announced Kotal.
The third league plays two games in this one. Their winners will face each other in a play-off for promotion. The second group is more balanced, there is talk about the promotion ambitions of the reserves of Bohemians and Plzeň or Domažlice.
