The city of Hanover is considering terminating the lease in the Ihme center, which is in need of renovation. The final decision is still pending, but the termination is a serious option, said city spokesman Felix Weiper on request. The city does not agree with the lack of construction progress at the Ihme center and is currently preparing a decision, said Weiper.
The Ihme Center is a residential and office complex on the banks of the Ihme in the Linden district. It has been considered in need of renovation for years, and many residents are annoyed by the situation and the sight. The city currently maintains around 150 jobs in the Senior Citizens department in Ihmepassage 3-7. However, these jobs are to be relocated to Osterstrasse in the course of the first half of 2023.
From July 1, 2023, a new rental agreement for Ihmeplatz 5 is to come into force. The city can exercise its special right of termination if the renovation announced by the operator is not announced.
