Sky Opatov: Residents of Prague 11 are rebelling against construction
The planned project called Sky Opatov by the developer is to stand on the land between Billa and the polyclinic near the Ke Kateřinkám bus stop. The three-story building closer to Opatovský is to be used for commercial purposes, and behind it the developer plans various types of buildings with 75 apartments. It is to have two height levels, part of the building is planned by the investor to be four-storey and part to be nine-storey.
It is the nine-story part that is not liked by the residents of the neighboring prefab houses, who believe that such a high building would affect the quality of their living. According to Jaroš, the company obtained a zoning decision at the end of last December, against which the City Hall of Prague 11 filed objections in January as a party to the proceedings. Hana Kordová Marvanová, elected last year’s senator for Prague 11, spoke against the current form of the project to the media.
Objection
In the objection, the town hall argues, for example, by reducing the lighting of the surrounding houses, the project does not fit the site according to the management of the district or urban planning. “In this form, construction on the area between the Opatovská polyclinic and the so-called cloud house is completely unacceptable for local residents, as it would undoubtedly improve the quality of their housing and burden the neighborhood with additional traffic. We will do everything to find the best possible solution for the residents of Jašíkova, V Jezírky and Křejpského streets,” said Jaroš.
Prague 11 includes Chodov and Háje and, according to data from the Czech Statistical Office, has about 73,000 inhabitants. Since the end of last December, the coalition of the Movement for Prague 11 (HPP11), Prahy 11 Sobě and Pirátů has ruled the district, the mayor is Šárka Zdeňková (HPP11).
Above all, the residents of these panel houses are afraid of a tall new construction that would shade their windows.
