Portugal at the world’s largest fruit and vegetable fair to boost exports – Agriculture and Fisheries
Portugal will take a delegation of 27 companies and associations to Fruit Logistica, the largest fruit and vegetable fair in the world, which will take place between February 8 and 10, in Berlin, where approximately 73 thousand visitors are expected.
The participation of Portuguese companies in the fair, where they will have a total exhibition area of 300 square meters, is one of the many international promotion initiatives organized by Portugal Fresh to export national exports, emphasizes the Association for the Promotion of Fruits, Vegetables and Flowers of Portugal.
“The participation of Portuguese companies in Fruit Logistica 2023 reveals the strategic and competitive capacity of the agri-food sector in its international promotion. the sector”, observes the president of Portugal Fresh, quoted in a statement sent this Wednesday to newsrooms.
But that alone is not enough, consider Gonçalo Santos Andrade: “More is needed. It is urgent, once and for all, that the agri-food sector be valued by government bodies. exports, efficiently remunerating producers”.
And, in this context, he emphasizes, “without a Secretary of State for Agriculture – and also without a very necessary Secretary of State for Food – it is impossible to conquer competitiveness in relation to the countries of southern Europe, with which Portugal competed directly”.
Portugal Fresh’s participation in Fruit Logística is carried out within the scope of the Joint Internationalization Project 2022/2023 supported by Portugal 2020 – Competitiveness and Internationalization Operational Programme, which foresees an investment of 948.9 million euros, financed in 54% by FEDER – European Regional Development Fund.
