Majority in favor of nuclear power in Norway in new opinion poll
– For a country that has no tradition of nuclear power, it is surprising that a majority have now become positive about the development of nuclear power, says senior advisor Nora Clausen in Opinion.
According to the survey, 51 percent agree that Norway should develop nuclear power. 37 percent disagree, while the rest don’t know.
The Progress Party’s voters are by far the most positive about nuclear power (73 per cent), closely followed by the voters of the Liberal Party (63 per cent), the Conservative Party (58 per cent), the Red Party (52 per cent) and the Green Party (49 per cent).
– Everything from the price of electricity to the climate crisis are arguments that are drawn up for nuclear power, and this strikes a broad chord regardless of political viewpoint, says Clausen.
Voters for the Center Party and SV are most negative. These are the only parties in the Storting with a majority of voters who are against Norwegian nuclear power.
The survey was carried out in a nationally representative sample of the population of 1,003 people in week four of January 2023, writes Opinion.
