“Forever Together”: Coca-Cola’s new lids in Greece are non-removable for easier collection and recycling
THE Coca Cola in Greece (Coca-Cola Tria Epsilon and Coca-Cola Hellas), true to its vision “For a world without waste“, continues to support the national effort to increase rates recycling and adopts the new non-detachable cap on all soft drinks, beverages and juices included in its portfolio. With the new design, the company implements the European Directive and the relevant Greek legislation one year before 2024 which foresee the respective deadlines.
Now, 256 million caps* on the plastic packaging of our favorite soft drinks and beverages are non-removable. In other words, the cap will remain attached to the bottle’s safety ring, aiming for a perfect opening. So, the next time we enjoy our favorite soft drink, we will close the cap again and dispose of the entire package in an easy way in the recycling bins.
With the aim of familiarizing consumers with the new non-removable caps, the company is launching the new campaign entitled “Forever Together”. This campaign comes to educate citizens on the correct use and recycling of the new packaging. For Coca-Cola in Greece, the change in the attitude of citizens towards waste is inextricably linked to the increase in national collection and recycling rates and thus the ever-growing communication and education campaigns around the circular economy.
The adoption of the new non-detachable caps contributes to Coca-Cola’s wider strategy in Greece for a more sustainable future. It is recalled that, since 2022, the company has launched the innovative KeelClip™ plastic packaging, which eliminates the film in all aluminum multipacks. At the same time, initiatives that put cooperation at the center of attention are for Coca-Cola in Greece the best vehicle to increase recycling rates in the country. Thus, since 2018, it has been creating the Zero Waste Future social platform, through which 2,200 tons of recyclable materials have been collected to date.
The change, which started with Coca-Cola Tria Epsilon’s juice portfolio in November 2022, continues with Coca-Cola Regular 4x500ml + 1.5L in MyMarket stores, while gradually by the end of March, the new non-detachable caps will have used in all plastic packaging of soft drinks (Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, Schweppes, Fuzetea, Powerade).
