Anninsky 87-year-old athlete took 2 “gold” of the open tournament of the Republic of Belarus
Anninsky athlete, 87-year-old Ivan Guskov, won two gold medals in the XI Open Tournament of the Republic of Belarus in track and field athletics among veterans in sports. Ivan Guskov himself told the RIA Voronezh correspondent about this.
The competitions were held in Minsk on Saturday, January 28. Ivan Guskov took first place in his age group in the shot put, showing a result of 3 m 3 cm, and in weight throwing – 3 m 62 cm.
– From the trip itself, the impressions were pleasant. There were many participants – an average of 40-50 people competed in each discipline, so the representative of appearance, – said Ivan Guskov.
Athletes from Russia and Belarus aged 30 years and older took part in the tournaments. They competed in 12 types of programs: 60m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 3,000m, 3,000m walking, building jump, high jump, triple jump, shot put, 4×200 relay m, mixed relay.
Context
Ivan Guskov has been involved in sports for over 75 years. He is a candidate master of sports in wrestling and chess, has the first ranks in athletics and boxing. In recent years, he has participated in about 30 athletics competitions at various levels. In July 2022, the silver and two bronze medals of the VI Open Championship of the Republic of Belarus in athletics among veterans were won. Ivan Guskov was awarded by his granddaughter Anna, the 2018 Olympic champion and freestyle medalist of the Winter Olympics as part of the Belarus national team.
