Toulouse. Place Saint-Pierre: the Fregi food truck delights appetites
If you go to St. Peter’s Square after 7 p.m., you can’t miss Aram and his blue van. He’s been coming to set up shop every night for a few months in front of the little Casino Shop. Aram arrived in Toulouse, from his native Armenia, at the age of 15, he worked in the restaurant industry and then became interested in computers and photography, covering wedding ceremonies. 6 months ago he decided with a friend from Marseille to open a food truck dedicated to chichis fregis, this long donut flavored with orange blossom very popular in the Estaque district. After formal training, he brought his food truck near the exit of the Capitole metro station, but he quickly understood that the young evening clientele tends to come near Place Saint-Pierre, where he now parks. He takes the opportunity to expand his menu and, alongside pastries with the good taste of Provence, he now offers burgers, various and varied sandwiches and of course trays of fries (fregi in Provençal means fried). And if we ask Aram what he thinks of the environment, he says he is “very happy and very well accepted on this site. Especially since I do not sell alcoholic beverages”, he slips”
