In the groundbreaking Education Cannot Wait campaign, children around the world are calling on world leaders to deliver on their promise of universal education.
NEW YORK, Jan. 31, 2023 /PRNewswire/– As part of an innovative campaign by the United Nations Global Fund for Education Cannot Wait (ECW), girls and boys around the world are sharing, ” Postcards from the edge‘ to call on leaders to deliver on their pledge to ensure education for all by 2030, as set out in the Sustainable Development Goals.

In the Democratic Republic of Congo tells Lucas*, a 14-year-old refugee from the Central African Republic, how he saw his mother murdered and his village burned to the ground.
Through a multi-year resilience program run by UNHCR and maintained by ECW, the boy is now back in school and dreams of one day becoming a doctor.
In his postcard, Lucas appealed to the heads of state and government to “think of us refugee children and provide funds so that we can finish our education”.
There have been several letters from girls and boys Afghanistan submitted. With new regulations denying girls access to education and depriving women of their human rights, it is unclear whether Zehab* from Uruzgan province will be allowed to continue her education. But until further notice, she can still participate in a non-formal community-based learning program.
“I want to get a good education and become a recognized doctor. But I’m afraid that I won’t be able to achieve my dreams because girls in Afghanistan are not allowed to go to school,” she said on her postcard. “I call on leaders to help us and give us the opportunity to learn and build our future.”
