In the future, REWE FINAL 4 will take place in Cologne and no longer in Hamburg!
Cologne – Great prospects for sports fans in Cologne: A real highlight event will change from 2023 for the first time Hamburg in the cathedral city! And beyond that, the new sports year has a lot to offer.
In spring the time has come when the REWE FINAL 4 tournament for the DHB Cup will take place in Cologne for the first time. After death Handball World Cup has just lured millions of spectators in front of the screens, fans will soon be able to follow the beautiful sport up close at the highest level.
The kick-off for the major German handball competition will be on April 15 in the Lanxess Arena. In front of almost 20,000 spectators, the winners of the German Cup will be chosen over a weekend in two semi-finals and the final.
Cologne will remain the venue of the REWE FINAL 4 for at least five years, until 2027. And that’s not all: In June, the four strong European handball teams will meet in the EHF FINAL 4 in the cathedral city.
It will certainly not be boring until the absolute highlight – the main and final round of the European Handball Championship 2024, which will also be held in Cologne.
But sports fans also get their money’s worth away from handball. The women’s DFB Cup final will not take place on Saturdays this year, but on May 18th on a public holiday (Ascension Day) in the RheinEnergie Stadium. As usual, a big festival and a football tournament are also planned on the meadows.
An absolute highlight of the Cologne sports year 2023 follows at the end: On October 1st the Cologne Marathon celebrates its anniversary. Then the city turns into a celebration mile for brave long-distance runners for the 25th time.
