‘Godts in Amsterdam to finalize the transfer from KRC Genk to Ajax’
Mike Godts is currently in Amsterdam to finalize his transfer to Ajax, Bob Faesen reports Twitter. The Belgian journalist from Het Laatste Nieuws indicates that the only thing still expected is the official link of the transition.
The sixteen-year-old left winger is currently still a KRC Genk player, but that seems to be changing soon. His contract in Genk expires and he has set his sights on a transfer to Ajax. Godts did not want to extend his contract with his club and so he was recently transferred from the first team to the reserves team. approximately Ajax supports itself in Genk for the negotiations.
Despite being a youth player, KRC Genk just wanted to receive a transfer fee for Godts. Due to his employability for Jong KRC Genk, letting him leave for free was not an option, even if his longest time at the club was over. A first offer from Ajax was still being put together, but the clubs now seem to have come together.
Ajax was not the only party interested in Godts. AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and ‘half the Premier League’ would have followed the attacker with above average interest. Despite his situation at KRC Genk, he played seventeen games this season for the U21 team. In doing so, he was responsible for six goals and enabled a fellow player to find the goal.
