Winner in Nancy, AS Monaco qualifies for the round of 16
Already clear winners of Aubagne in the previous round (4-1), the young U18s of the Principality club overthrew ASNL late this Sunday in Lorraine (3-0), in the round of 16 of the Gambardella Cup.
The adventure goes on ! Frustrated by his shortened run in the last competition, with an early elimination against Lyon in the round of 16AS Monaco will already go further in 2023. After replacing Aubagne at the 32nd stage three weeks ago (4-1 success), the Red and Whites of Frederic Barilaro – already winner of the Gambardella Cup in 2011 and 2016 – ended up outclassing AS Nancy Lorraine this Sunday (3-0).

A belated success… but dazzling!
However, the decision took a long time to take shape, since the opening of the score of Saimon Bouabre did not intervene until the… 72nd minute! The Monegasque attacking midfielder, international tricolor U17, thus unlocking a tight game until then. Since in the last moments, Sandro Bertolucci (87th) then Lucas Michal (89th) also struck to complete the clear victory of our Red and Whites.
Draw for 8th on February 1
Third away game in this 2022-2023 campaign, after Venissieux and Aubagne, and therefore third success for them, who logically climb to the round of 16 of the competition. A beautiful course, which deserves to continue at home, as regularly in recent years. The draw of the next round will in any case take place this Wednesday, February 1.
In the meantime, the captain’s teammates Ritchy Valme will challenge OM next weekend, for the shock of the top of the table of the 18th day of the national U19 championship. Good job guys !
