When will households in Bulgaria build their own photovoltaic plants?
A solar installation for one’s own needs costs BGN 20,000 and is paid for in 7 years, said Meglena Rusenova, Chairman of the Board of the Bulgarian Photovoltaic Association
The adoption of a regulation for renewable energy that fully complies with European rules will be an incentive for Bulgarian households to participate in the entire system of production, consumption and sale of electrical energy. This was said by Meglena Rusenova, Chairman of the Board of the Bulgarian Photovoltaic Association, in the program “Business Start” on Bloomberg TV Bulgaria.
Rusenova recalled that from 2018, Bulgaria is expected to transpose the European directive on renewable energy, and currently the country is not in criminal Procedure because we have not implemented it.
“A photovoltaic plant for own consumption, which can satisfy the needs of the household 100% for 12 months, according to our calculations, costs about BGN 20,000 and could pay for itself in about 7 years,” said Rusenova.
Here, for the most part, regulations in both the US and the EU ease investors in renewable energy sources. “We hope that in Bulgaria we will soon have a regulation that will ease the process, so that it becomes faster and more predictable for every investor,” the guest pointed out.
Regarding the rules for installing photovoltaic systems in Rusenova’s home, he said that this part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan should be launched as soon as possible because it is oriented towards households. “Within the framework of the Recovery and Resilience Plan program, the parameters allow a small 10 kW photovoltaic plant for a household in a single-family house to meet 100% of its electricity consumption for 12 months,” shared the interlocutor.
“Part of the obstacles for households to build their own photovoltaic centers have been removed after a change introducing a departmental regime was adopted,” Meglena Rusenova said, but stressed that further changes must be adopted in the next National Assembly. which allow the produced energy not only to be consumed, but also to be sold.
“One photovoltaic plant for own consumption, which can satisfy the needs of the household, according to our calculations, costs about BGN 20,000. At current household electricity prices, this plant produces electricity for about BGN 2,800 per year. are exactly BGN 2,800, the plant could pay off its investment in about 7 years. The economic sense is already very clear. an incentive for everyone to stimulate the cost of electricity through own production,” said the guest.
“I am convinced that in Bulgaria we will have 100% growth this year to 2022 in Bulgaria from the point of view of installed new capacities and new investments. These are not only investors in specific energy sites, but also in facilities for joining. This is also the most direct, market path, for the modernization of the Bulgarian energy sector and breaking away from its dependence on Russian energy resources,” Rusenova recalled.
