Rugby: season over for Montpellier player Yacouba Camara injured against Stade Toulousain
The captain and international third line of Montpellier Yacouba Camara suffers from a rupture of the cruciate ligaments of a knee and puts an end to his season.
“After additional examinations carried out on Monday, the third line suffers from a rupture of the cruciate ligament. Yacouba should undergo surgery in the coming weeks,” said the MHR in a press release. “It’s a blow for us. We are losing our captain for the rest of the season, but he remains in support of the team,” said manager Philippe Saint-André. Camara (28, 17 caps), used on the second line in the absence of internationals Paul Willemse or Florian Verhaeghe, was injured on Sunday during the meeting in Toulouse.
His injury comes as the captain of Montpellier had been recalled to the France team for the first time since the last World Cup in Japan to prepare for the next Six Nations Tournament. After participating in the first stage in CapBreton in an expanded group of 42 players, he was released by coach Fabien Galthié.
In less than a week, Montpellier has just lost two experienced players, center Geoffrey Doumayrou, also with a knee injury, and therefore Camara. The French champion, connected to alternating current, occupies 8th place in the Top 14 before receiving Toulon on Saturday.
