Online platform IRISbox counted 102,000 new users in 2022
Birth certificate, family composition certificate, premium application… The electronic counter of the Brussels Region, IRISbox, allows citizens to demolish a series of administrative actions online. In 2022, 491,813 people will have used the platform. 102,000 people registered for the first time.
IRISbox is the Brussels Region’s online platform offering the westernmost and temporary services. The platform was created to contain the pressure on the Brussels administrative services, but also to shorten the time limits of the procedures and the delivery of documents.
In 2022, IRISbox had 491,813 users, including 102,556 new ones. Together they have performed more than 719,000 administrative actions.
New possibilities
The most requested documents are the certificate of family composition, the certificate of main residence and the extract of the birth certificate.
In order to continue to buy the lives of the inhabitants of Brussels, the platform is expanded every year with new possibilities. In 2022, several formalities were added: the Brussels’Air or Renolution premium application, obtaining a new model of the extract from the criminal record and the application for permission to temporarily occupy the public road in Jette.
Later this year it will also be possible to register rental agreements, make requests to use the electric charging stations and transfer requests for urban planning information.
Digital Brussels
“Digital technology makes administration more modern, simpler, more skillful and more accessible. That is why, with my Digital Brussels project, I want to offer all Brussels residents the right to simplify their administrative actions online, if they wish,” said Bernard Clerfayt, the Brussels Minister for Digitization and Administrative Simplification in a press release.
Users come from all age groups, with a slight peak for 25 to 34 year olds and 35 to 44 year olds, each representing 23% of the total number. The number of users over the age of 65 remains the same as last year, at 13%.
To perform the actions online, 50% of the people used a computer to log in, 49% a smartphone and 1% a tablet.
