The 27-year-old man, suspected of having burned 29 buses in Saint-Lys and Labarthe-sur-Lèze, near Toulouse, has just admitted eight new facts. This arsonist would have burned several homes in the department of Haute-Garonne, garbage containers and brushwood.
This family man fantasizes every time a fire is lit in front of him. The arsonist imprisoned since September, after having set fire to 29 buses in one yearhas just recognized seven new facts in the department.
The investigation into the start-up following a fire, on August 20. That day, 19 bus stations on Verbus company premises, in Labarthe-sur-lèze, were destroyed by the flames. The damage is colossal and the damage amounts to 3 million euros.
After several days of investigation, suspicions turn to an employee of the company. When he was only 15 years old, this individual had already been suspected of having set fire to his parents’ house.

On the day of his hearing, questioned by a specialist in behavioral science from the Criminal Research Institute of the National Gendarmerie (IRCGN), this man finally admitted to being the author of the Verbus fire. He also admits that of Saint-Lys, in July 2021, where 10 coaches had burned. Now a father, this man has never been able to control his addiction to fire, according to his statements.
Betrayed by his phone
Since his incarceration in September, the investigators have not stopped being interested in his profile. Thanks to his mobile phone, the investigators managed to trace his various journeys made between 2020 and 2022. And his GPS “limited” near other fires.

On Monday January 16, this 27-year-old former bus driver, who had tried to become a volunteer firefighter, was taken from his cell by the gendarmes of the Muret research brigade. After 48 hours of interrogation, he admitted to having set fire to houses, land but also garbage containers throughout the department. The damage would amount to more than a hundred thousand euros.
