A student from Fux who wants to defend Ariège in Toulouse
The students of the university center of Foix voted, this Monday, January 30, to elect their representatives. The candidate Gabriel Martinaud hopes to bring the voice of Ariège to Toulouse.
The ballot boxes were taken out into the prefabricated building. The students of Foix branch, but also their teachers, are called on Monday, January 30 to appoint their representatives. Their counterparts from the university of Toulouse 2 Jean-Jaurès vote, them, on two days, this Monday and Tuesday.
Twelve ballot boxes were placed on the tables. “Students vote for the Board of Directors and the Education and University Life Commission. The professors also have to choose the lists for the research commission, ”explains the person responsible for monitoring the elections. The number of ballot boxes is explained by the rather complex distribution of votes.
For the list on the left
Gabriel Martinaud, with a degree in social sciences, is a candidate on the leftist list of progressive students, which brings together socialists and communists. He would be, according to him, “the first Ariège student to appear on a list”.
Ranked in fifth position, the bet does not scare this native of Tarn, also departmental coordinator of communist groups in Ariège. “There are few students in Foix (401, editor’s note). The political commitment is less strong because the militant movements remain in Toulouse, apart from that of L’Œuf”. The young candidate, he promotes the progressive students on the ground fuxéen.
Julien and Jérémy choose from the different lists.
As for his ambitions, he displays them clearly: “My goal is to put in place another vision of decentralization. Medium cities are dying, the majority of students are in big cities. And yet, in Ariège, training are close to high schools and respond to local employment, in particular by offering training in pastoralism”.
“Quality” training that the student intends to promote to future students. “Structures like a university branch are important to prevent young parents. Not everyone also has the means to study in Toulouse. Having students in a city helps to energize the territory”.
The candidate proposes, via his list, to maintain financial aid for students, “not permanently, but targeting those who need it at this time. We want to regain control over the fund of the student life commission, whether it is reversed to associations and on student cards, or whether it constitutes a food fund”.
Campaigning works
In any case, the work on the ground carried out by a movement paid, Monday. Jérémy and Julien, as masters, let themselves be convinced: “The young girl was fully committed. It is the only party that came to the campus, we appreciated the approach, the others remain in Toulouse”.

Jeremy has voted. With satisfaction because “it’s a right”.
Voting, something obvious for Jérémy: “I vote in all the elections. It’s a right, it’s important to put your voice to work”. Unlike Julien, motivated this time by a committed entourage. “They’re all in, it doesn’t cost anything, we can do it.”
The counting will be carried out this Tuesday, January 31, in Toulouse. The relocation of results, that is not yet act.
