Why did the referee not whistle the penalty after the foul on Sead Kolašinac?
Twitter like the media experts couldn’t believe… Sead Kolašinac received a huge stamp in the penalty area during the summit between Olympique de Marseille and AS Monaco. Or, the referee didn’t whistle the penalty, here’s why.
Marseille Olympics still can’t come back. AS Monaco came close to reliving the same scenario of Louis II on a contentious action in the penalty area (1-1). Indeed, Guillermo Maripan struck Sead Kolašinac at the ankle from the penalty spot. Despite numerous disputes, OM did not obtain a penalty or even Mr. Pignard’s trip to see the video.
However, the rule is clear on this subject: Kolasinac had already struck and in his momentum, Maripan mowed him wanting to put his foot on the ball. Therefore, there is no fault. However, the violence of the impact and the percussion zone must be taken into account and this seems particularly limited here. In another area of the field, it would certainly have been whistled with an orange card at the rendezvous.
The VAR only considered the first part of our statement without considering that the integrity of the OM player was endangered.
