“We must win this match”, the regrets of Philippe Clément
AS Monaco coach Philippe Clément left frustrated with the trip to Marseille where his team, stronger in the first period, settled for a 1-1 draw on Saturday during the 20th day of the League 1.
A two-sided game. OM-Monaco, the poster for the 20th day of Ligue 1 on Saturday evening at the Stade Vélodrome, was rich in contrasts. While the Principality team largely deserved their lead on the scoreboard at the break (but against their Veretout camp), OM, transformed in the second half, logically obtained the point of the draw ( 1-1). Finally logically, this is not the opinion of the Monegasques and in particular of their coach Philippe Clément, very frustrated after the meeting. “When you see the two matches against Marseille, it could be 6 points out of 6 (during the first leg, Monaco lost 3-2, editor’s note). It must have been 6 out of 6”, sighed the Belgian coach in conference of hurry.

“We have to kill the game”
Even if he does not overwhelm his players, Philippe Clément regrets the multiple missed chances in the first period, in particular by Wissam Ben Yedder: “We were not efficient enough in the first half. When you see the whole match “We have to win this game. We have to kill it. Great teams, great players, they kill a game like that. But it’s still positive to try to create chances in every game and play to win.” With this draw, Monaco are 4th in Ligue 1, five points behind OM, 3rd. Next meeting, Wednesday against Auxerre at the Louis II stadium (9 p.m.).
