SIENA, A CITY IN SEARCH OF AN AUTHOR
A precious city that risks becoming a closed casket
Siena…a city in search of an author. With still unexpressed potential and various tangible realities under development. But the author is new Diogenes I’m looking with the lantern it’s not just the Mayor who will come out of the spring electoral bingo but it’s all of us, the inhabitants of this precious city who otherwise risk becoming a museum or a double-locked casket. In fact, I wonder if this aging city of ours – with over 2 out of 5 inhabitants over the age of 65 – is capable of renewing itself…waking up and setting off at the fastest pace towards the future.
The Palio it’s a wonderful ritual and the Contrade are able to regenerate… but if we remain anchored to the Festival without going any further, we risk paralysis.
We must renew ourselves hoping that the bank he resists and even raises his profile.
That our University be enriched with new university courses by attracting students from all over Italy and not only that, as well as the Foreigner expand toEurope and emerging countries far East. Siena can truly become a center of excellence in research and life sciences. But if possible we must speed up the construction of the pole by pretending the promised funding.
We can still receive so much from tourism…perhaps by promoting events and initiatives in the cultural field than with the Santa Maria still ingested they struggle to take flight. Instead, I am appreciating the project that sees it involved the Pinacoteca which is proposed to the city with the birth of the Amici and which is relaunched with its jewels in Italy and in the world.
In short, we can all be the authors of the rebirth while waiting for an administrative team that does more and better.
